In today’s world, unrealistic beauty standards can cause both men and women to feel unhappy with their appearances, even if they’re already stunning. Unfortunately, some become obsessed with achieving physical perfection through cosmetic surgery, leading to addiction and irreversible damage.

Korean model Hang Mioku is one such case. Seeking physical perfection, Mioku underwent her first plastic surgery procedure at 28 years old. Unsatisfied with the results, she continued to undergo many more operations on her face, leaving it enlarged and disfigured. When her doctors refused to perform any more surgeries, citing a possible psychological disorder, Mioku resorted to injecting herself with silicone.
When her supply ran out, Mioku injected cooking oil into her face, resulting in permanent disfigurement. While doctors were able to reduce the size of her face, her appearance is forever ruined. Mioku has since received donations from some who pity her tragic story, but she will never have her old face back.

As Mioku’s story shows, the pursuit of physical perfection through cosmetic surgery can quickly spiral out of control. It’s important to love and accept ourselves for who we are, rather than trying to conform to society’s unrealistic standards of beauty.
