Ken Mijungu Fired from TV47 Weeks After Landing the Job

Renowned journalist Ken Mijungu has been fired from TV47, barely a month after joining the station.

Sudden Contract Termination

A letter from Cape Media CEO Lilian Makandi, dated February 22, 2025, confirmed that Mijungu’s contract had been revoked just days after he requested time off. He had formally written to the management on February 21, 2025, asking for time to reflect on his role at the company.

“Having considered the matter, the management has decided to revoke the Service Agreement dated January 31, 2025. This decision takes effect immediately,” part of the letter read.

Despite the abrupt termination, Makandi expressed openness to working with Mijungu again in the future, wishing him success in his career.

Brief Stint at TV47

Mijungu joined TV47 in January 2025, shortly after leaving KTN, where he had worked for four years. His appointment was officially announced on the station’s social media platforms on February 7, 2025.

His exit from Standard Group’s KTN was contract-related, as he previously stated, “I did not renew my contract.”

Mijungu’s Journalism Career

Beyond being a journalist, Mijungu is also a lawyer. His career began at CCTV Africa before he moved to Mediamax Network Ltd, where he worked at K24 as a news reporter, business anchor, and talk show host.

He later joined NTV as a senior reporter before transitioning to Standard Media Group in 2020, serving as a news anchor and current affairs host.

What’s Next for Ken Mijungu?

While Mijungu has not publicly addressed his firing from TV47, his sudden exit raises questions about his next career move. Attempts to reach him for comment were unsuccessful.
