Detectives from the DCI Homicide Bureau have arrested a woman linked to the murder of Maxwell Wamwea, which took place on May 11, 2022, in Kasarani, Nairobi.
The case was initially recorded at Kasarani Police Station as an incident of mob justice. However, following a formal complaint lodged on November 19, 2023, fresh investigations were launched.
Upon reviewing the case file, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) recommended charging Cecilia Wangari Kirisa, 39, along with another suspect who remains at large, for Wamwea’s murder.
Wangari was arrested at a short-stay apartment in Thindigwa, Kiambu County and is set to face arraignment.
Separate Arrests Over Murders of Taxi Drivers
In a separate case, detectives arrested Martin Asembo Masemo, 32, in connection with the murders of George Njuguna Ngung’u on July 31, 2024, and Victoria Mumbua Moloki on September 27, 2024.
Both victims were taxi drivers operating in Mombasa and Migori, respectively.
Masemo is believed to have collaborated with Edwin Kipngetich, who is already facing charges in the Nakuru High Court. Authorities will seek a custodial order to allow further investigations before Masemo is formally charged.
Detectives are actively pursuing other suspects believed to be involved in these killings.
Family Dispute Turns Deadly in Ainabkoi
Meanwhile, a tragic family altercation over food in Mochokoret village, Ainabkoi Sub-County, led to the death of Emmanuel Kiplagat Sing’oei, 40, on February 19, 2025.
According to preliminary investigations, a heated argument erupted during dinner between Emmanuel and his younger brothers, Duncan Kiptoo Singo’ei, 27, and Kelvin Kiplimo Singo’ei, 25. Their 70-year-old father attempted to diffuse the situation but was unsuccessful.
The dispute escalated, resulting in Emmanuel being fatally stabbed in the chest. He was rushed to Plateau Mission Hospital, where doctors confirmed his death.
Upon arriving at the scene, detectives recovered the murder weapon—a kitchen knife—as well as a blood-stained T-shirt, both of which were preserved as evidence.
The two suspects were taken into custody and are set to be arraigned in court.
