Woman Arrested for Brutally Killing Her 71-Year-Old Mother

 

A 43-year-old woman, Kamanthe Makato, has been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of her 71-year-old mother, Mukeli Makato.

 

According to a statement released on Wednesday, February 19, by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the tragic incident occurred while Mukeli was gathering firewood with her grandchild.

The situation reportedly turned deadly when Kamanthe arrived at the scene, leading to a heated disagreement between her and her mother. The argument quickly escalated into violence, culminating in a gruesome attack.

 

“The victim, 71-year-old Mukeli Makato, was collecting firewood with her grandchild when Kamanthe joined them. A misunderstanding between the mother and daughter rapidly turned into a violent confrontation, ending in horror as Kamanthe fatally hacked her mother,” the DCI reported.

 

The young grandchild, witnessing the attack, fled the scene screaming for help.

 

Police officers responded swiftly to the distress call and arrived at the scene to find Mukeli’s body lying in a pool of blood, bearing multiple deep cuts from her head to her legs.

 

A blood-stained panga, believed to be the murder weapon, was recovered at the scene and retained as evidence.

 

Mukeli Makato’s body has since been moved to Kilome Nursing Home Hospital Morgue, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine further details surrounding her death.

 

Kamanthe Makato remains in police custody as authorities prepare to present her in court.
