A tragic bus accident in Taita Taveta County has claimed the lives of at least three students from Dr. Aggrey Boys High School in Wundanyi. The incident occurred along the Wundanyi-Mwatate road after the bus reportedly suffered brake failure, causing the driver to lose control and overturn the vehicle.
The three victims, who were on their way home after a fire destroyed one of the school’s dormitories, died at the scene. The driver of the bus also lost his life. Several other passengers sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Moi Referral Hospital in Voi for medical attention.
Photos and videos from the scene show the severe damage to the bus, with shattered windows, deflated tyres, and a crumpled body. Locals gathered at the site, some helping to pull survivors from the wreckage, while others observed from a distance.
Emergency responders, including firefighters from the Taita Taveta County government and local police officers, arrived at the scene shortly after the accident. They worked together to clear the wreckage from the road and secure the area as investigations into the cause of the crash began.
