Kenyan Police Arrest UPDF Officers for Harassing Fishermen on Lake Victoria

Kenyan authorities have arrested two Ugandan People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) officers for allegedly harassing Kenyan fishermen on Lake Victoria. This marks a notable shift from past incidents, where UPDF officers often intimidated Kenyan fishermen without facing consequences.  

 

The arrests come amid growing tensions over territorial boundaries and fishing rights on the shared lake. Kenyan fishermen have long accused Ugandan forces of unlawful incursions, confiscating equipment, and disrupting their livelihoods.
