Deputy President William Ruto has announced working together with singer Willy Paul as he seeks support for his 2022 candidature in the presidency.
The DP met the artist at his official Karen residence where he announced the partnership will shelter other players in the creative industry.
“We are investing in the dreams of young people through creative arts with the appreciation that music, dance, drama, and more can promote positive and powerful economic and social transformation in our society. We agreed to partner (with Willy Paul) in our journey to make the creative economy flourish,” said the DP.
The meeting happens three months into the DP having brought on board another act in the name of Bahati, who used to be at loggerheads with Willy Paul.
Bahati joined the DP’s camp early in July promising to stick with the Ruto’s team as to him (Bahati) the DP has for long had the interests of the young people at heart.
Amid the backlash from his opponents, the DP has been advancing the gospel of youth’s empowerment donating wheelbarrows and handcarts to Nairobi’s unemployed population.
The gesture by the DP has been rubbing his opponents the wrong way accusing him of employing a retrogressive approach towards solving young people’s problems.
