Some disturbing videos of Chinese authorities manhandling coronavirus patients have gone viral on several social media platforms.
In one video, a couple suspected to have the virus are requested to be quarantined and isolated in a box at the back of a truck. The woman is seen crying while her partner assures her that everything will be fine.
Once they are locked up in the box, the woman becomes hysterical and starts screaming for help. This is suspected to be caused by the claustrophobic effects of being locked in a small box.
In the second video, Chinese officers forcefully detain a woman suspected of having the coronavirus. She is forcefully dragged out of her car and passes out shortly afterwards. The officers are seen leaving her on the ground until transport comes to get her.
The two videos visually suggest the grim situation of the outbreak in the country leading people to believe that the Chinese government are hiding the true impact of the disease. Critics have urged the public not to believe the statistics given by the Chinese government claiming that the scenario is much worse.
The Wuhan coronavirus was first discovered in Wuhan, Central China, on December 31, 2019. Since then, the number of coronavirus cases in China has reached 42,600 and more than 1,000 people have been reported dead so far.
This is the country’s gravest public health crisis since the SARS outbreak in 2002-3.
