UK Prime Minister Tests Positive For Coronavirus

United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Boris Johnson has tested positive for the highly infectious coronavirus.

A statement from the government said that he was tested for the virus on the personal advice of England’s chief medical officer, Professor Chris Whitty. It went on to say that Boris will still be in charge of the government’s handling of the crisis.

Boris announced his results in a tweet saying that he had developed mild symptoms in the past 24 hours.

Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus.

Together we will beat this

This news comes after the Prince of Wales also tested positive earlier this week. He started displaying mild symptoms but is in good health as reported by a spokesman.

There are more than 11,600 confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK with 578 people confirmed dead.
