Retired president Mzee Mwai Kibaki on Sunday became the talk of the town after showing up at parliament donning a special kind of shoes leaving netizens opining across the social media platforms.
Kibaki was at Parliament buildings to join other leaders in paying their last respects to the late former president Mzee Daniel Moi.
What stood out for Kibaki is how casually he had dressed in the midst of other leaders who were in official outfits. The donning elicited mixed reactions from netizens, a section criticizing the former head of state while others falling in favor with his shoes and generally his kind of dressing.
The pair was not that of normal sneakers. They are specifically referred to as orthopedic shoes, which is normally designed for people with movement problems resulting from feet structure or disorder.
The shoes are medically significant making them stand out among the other normal footwear. The shoes are normally recommended to the elderly as they accommodate the feet regardless of structure, shape, etc thus easing movement.
