Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has been expelled out of the Musalia Mudavadi-led Amani National Congress (ANC).
The expulsion was approved on Friday by the governing council of the party. The senator is said to be wayward always dissenting from the party’s stances and ideologies.
The instance pointed out is that of the Kibra by-election late last year when the legislator drummed support for ODM’s Imran Okoth while his party had fielded its candidate.
The party’s disciplinary committee following his stand in the Kibra by-election suspended and summoned the senator to appear and respond to charges lodged against him.
“…your utterances, and activities at the political rally convened by the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) at Kibra on October 27, 2019, prejudiced the integrity and reputation of the ANC Party, its members, and employees,” the committee told the legislator.
Senator Malala however failed to respond to the charges and refused to appear before the committee to defend himself hence their decision to expel him.
