You would expect normal vending machines to sell you some snacks like a bag of crisps, some chocolate or even sausages. But not sausages. Things, however, are different in Germany as sausage vending machines are becoming more and more popular.
These vending machines are apparently booming outside German cities where shops are less likely to stay open for long hours. This enables Germans to buy what they need, including potato salad, at any time they need it.
Some vending machines have even been reported to stock eggs, milk, butter and fruit which means they are pretty reliable if you want to prepare some food late in the evening.
Despite their popularity, they are actually not meant to replace traditional shops but rather complement them. This means buying of these products would only add more revenue to the traditional shops despite them being closed.
