Security has been enhanced in the parts of Kibra Constituency after chaos erupted in some polling stations earlier today. There were claims by different parties of voter bribery and goons hired to intimidate a section of voters. Police are currently on alert to counter any violence that may happen.
Three people have already been arrested and will be facing charges of voters bribery among other malpractices. Regular Police and officers from GSU are the ones tasked to oversee the hot contest that has had to experience fracas at some point.
Some polling stations at Lindi were reported to have experienced voter bribery leading to the anti-riot officers being mobilized to counter any fracas that could be in offing.
ODM Party chair John Mbadi complained of some names missing in the voter’s register. He said the exercise is being conducted on a working day suggesting that as a reason for the low voter turnout. He urged the IEBC to allow every voter in the constituency to take part in the exercise regardless of their timing.
The DP William Ruto dismissed claims by ODM leader Raila Odinga of having some individuals intimidating voters across the polling stations. In a tweet the DP thanked the voters for shunning violence and creating time to vote;
“Peaceful voting is going on in many polling centers and security officers are on alert to deal with acts of lawlessness. Change is imminent. Mungu mbele,” read the tweet from DP.

The police initially intervened to disperse some group of youth who caused chaos at the DC grounds where Jubilee candidate Macdonald Mariga was holding a press briefing. Mariga was flanked by former senator Dr. Boni Khalwale who denied he was cornered by youth at the grounds as earlier reported.
More than 20 aspirants are looking forward to succeeding the late Ken Okoth in the mini-poll that appears to be a rehearsal for fierce politicking run ahead.
