Motorists heading to Thika, Murang’a, and Nyeri are stranded along the Thika Superhighway as the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) installs a footbridge at Weitethie section of the road.
KeNHA had announced the partial closure of the section of the highway as the contractor installs the footbridge.
Kenya National Highways Authority in purusant to Traffic Act Cap. 403 sec 71, wishes to notify the general public that a section of Thika Superhighway at Witeithie will be partially closed for motorists from Sunday, 22nd December 2019 to Tuesday, 24th December 2019.

Videos have surfaced online of the nasty snarl-up that began in the wee hours of the morning.
KeNHA has since apologized for the inconvenience caused by the contractor’s poor traffic management and has instructed them to allow normal traffic flow and to only divert traffic within notified timelines.
