Moses Kuria Released From Kilimani Police Station

Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria has been released from Kilimani Police Station on a cash bail of Ksh 20,000.

The MP spent 24 hours in cells following his arrest on Friday on claims that he beat up Joyce Wanja on December 8, 2019.

A video of Joyce Wanja narrating what happened to her on that day has been circulating on social media platforms and since sparked outrage from citizens. She narrated in the video that she was assaulted on when she was invited to Royal Media Services building to discuss the Building Bridges Initiative.

She claimed that Kuria assaulted her because she pointed out that the recent remarks he made in Kiambu County were not appropriate for audiences that have children.

Moses Kuria was arrested and taken to Kilimani Police Station. He later secured a Ksh. 50,000 cash bail which the officers at the station refused to honour and release him. His fellow MPs, led by Alice Wahome, made to the station to demand his release but were chased away by police who made use of teargas canisters.
