Nyali MP Mohamed Ali has officially served the clerk of the national assembly with his notice to table a motion of impeachment against Transport CS James Macharia.
The sought ouster is grounded on the CS’ alleged violation of some provisions in the Constitution his alleged incompetence notwithstanding.
Hon. Ali faults CS Macharia for his failure to consult the relevant stakeholders when it comes to his docket formulating some crucial policies that directly impact the citizenry.
One of the issues Hon. Ali finds burning is the continued transportation of consignments from the Mombasa Port to -in this case- the Naivasha Inland Container Depot via the SGR, contrary to the public opinion leaving thousands of people jobless.
Hon. Ali adds the CS oversaw in the different ministries he served the dissipation of public funds without having to account for them.
For instance, the CS is said to have been at the helm of MOH when it lost close to kes 5.2 billion, the perpetrators remaining free thanks to CS Macharia’s lukewarm approach to the war against graft.
The motion is being backed by 90 MPs who have already submitted their signatures to favor it.
A faction of MPs from the Mt Kenya region has already expressed its displeasure with Ali’s “petty politics” promising to sabotage the motion should it land in the flour of the national assembly.
Led by Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro, the legislators have dismissed Ali’s claims saying CS Macharia has a record speaking for itself, and that they will see to it that the motion doesn’t get to survive the light of the day.
