Former Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Youth and Gender, Miss Lilian Omollo, was today dealt a shocker after the Employment and Labour court awarded her one shilling for her unfair dismissal in 2018.
The judge in charge of her case ruled that her removal from the government’s payroll was done without following the due process of the law.
“The petitioner was not subjected to due process, nor was she given reasons for the removal from office under the hand of the President. She was ingeniously notified that her tenure had ended because a replacement had been appointed,” Justice Radido said in his ruling.
The judge defended the one-shilling compensation claiming that the ex-PS is currently facing graft offences. Radido believes that the award he offered was enough to compensate Lilian Omollo for her wrongful dismissal.
“She (Omollo) was ingeniously notified that her tenure had ended because a replacement had been appointed,” the judge said.
