The two were traced to a local in Roysambu after police received a tip-off from Nyumba Kumi officials from the area. One of the two men justified his escape by saying that he had been there for 72 hours and was being told to pay Ksh 2,000 every day without getting tested for the virus.

They also complained of the Ksh 2,000 accommodation fee they had to pay every day.

The two were part of the 50 individuals who escaped quarantine at KMTC on Tuesday during the heavy rains witnessed earlier in the week.

Both individuals, however, denied that they escaped after the rains had stopped. They are currently being held at Kasarani Police Station.

President Kenyatta made a stern warning to those who escaped saying that they know the individuals and that they would be tracked down.

President Uhuru Kenyatta
