Kitale Officials Order Residents to Vacate the Town

Residents of Kitale Town will not be allowed to continue with their normal businesses as county officials gave a three-hour ultimatum.

Trans Nzoia County Commissioner Samson Ojwang’ said in a press conference that all residents were to vacate the town within three hours. The directive would help in aiding in reducing the spread of the coronavirus.

We have agreed that in the next three hours, we are asking our people to begin vacating Kitale Town because the congestion in the town is aiding in the spread of coronavirus

The commissioner urged the residents to stay at home and that they would not be allowed into the town on tomorrow, March 27, 2020.

This directive came after a pastor in Kitale was forced into quarantine after he travelled from the United States. He was reported to have landed in the country via South Africa but did not self-quarantine.

The pastor even went on to have conducted a church service at the Light in the Hill Church. He is now under quarantine at the Mt Elgon isolation facility alongside his four family members.
