Identity of the Deceased Coronavirus Patient Revealed

The identity of the 66-year-old man who succumbed to the coronavirus on Thursday afternoon has finally been revealed.

His name was revealed to be Engineer Maurice Namiinda from Kiamlewa, Bungoma County. Reports indicate that at least five of his family members have been quarantined following close interactions with him.

Details of his identity emerged from a police report which stated that the son had been quarantined after it was established he made close contact with Maurice.

The son works with Mara conservancy and had travelled to Mara on 20th March 2020. He has since been recalled back to Nairobi to be isolated alongside the four other family members.

The CS confirmed that Engineer Maurice was also suffering from diabetes. He had arrived in the country on March 13, 2020, from South Africa via Switzerland.

The country currently has 31 confirmed cases (29 active) with three more also confirmed today. In a press briefing on Thursday, Ministry of Health, Chief Administrative Secretary (CAS), Dr Mercy Mwangangi said the three new cases are all Kenyan women aged between 30 and 61 years.
