Grenade, bullets recovered from police officer off duty after massive beating by civilians

Drama ensued in Baringo after a police officer was found in possession of a hand grenade and two bullets inside his house.

According to reports, residents of Barwessa tading center had been to Konoo sub-location assistant chief’s office to solve a can’t land dispute.

Kernan Barmon Kiprop had accused his family of wrongfully taking his piece of land, however, the aoon was angered after the case was settle in favour of his family.

Kiprop who is a police officer then proceeded to thw disputed land where he prevented the reportees from planting.

In the melee, the suspect cut one of his brother’s, Nicholas Kipkech’s finger after which he was wrestled and pinned to the ground.

While on the ground, they noticed he had a strange weapon.

He was arrested together with the weapons and brought him to the post where it was established that the other weapon was a military undetonated hand grenade.

The suspect was identified as a police officer attached to Sikuta police post, Kenyenya police station of Kenyenya sub-county, Kisii county allegedly on off-duty.

Following the new development, a search was led by DCI Baringo North in the suspect’s house where two rounds of 9mm ammo was recovered inside a bag in his bedroom.

All necessary action was taken and the suspect was placed in custody ready to appear before Kabarnet Law courts.
