Government Closes Major Roads To Ensure Safety During WRC Safari Rally Event

World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally will be held in Kenya from 24-27th June for the first time since 2002 when it was cancelled due to lack of finances.

During this super event that will host millions of people, the government has announced the temporary closure of major roads on various dates.

Check the programme as gazetted in the Kenya Gazette;

1.Eldoret -Nakuru Highway

The close off point for this busy road will be at Eldoret on Thursday 24th from 12 midnight to 7 pm.

2.Kericho – Nakuru Highway

The close off point for this road will be at Jericho on Friday 25th same time.

3.Nyahururu -Nakuru Highway

The close off point for this road will be at Nyahururu on Saturday 26th.

4.Mombasa – Nairobi Highway, Mai Mahiu – Naivasha Highway together with Narok -Mai Mahiu highway will be closed on Sunday 27th.

After 6 am in the morning, all heavy commercial vehicles weighing 3 tonnes and above are required to park at the nearest designated parking areas and await the above road opening time.
