Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made an emotional plea to President William Ruto, urging him to spare his children from political battles. Speaking on Wednesday, February 26, during an interview with vernacular radio stations in Ukambani, Gachagua accused the president of orchestrating actions that have negatively impacted his children’s businesses.
“I am only asking the president, please, don’t kill my children, leave them alone. Let them fend for themselves, start their own families, and plan for their future. Fight with me because I am the one you have issues with,” Gachagua stated.
He alleged that his children had been forced out of business premises where they had operated for seven years, claiming that the building owner was threatened to evict them.

Gachagua also expressed disappointment that his sons, who supported and voted for Ruto in the 2022 general election, were now facing undue hardship. He attributed growing public discontent and the church’s opposition to the president’s alleged mistreatment of his family.
“Those children of Riggy G voted for you, their father helped you. They are just young and not even married yet. Why interfere with their businesses? This is why people are turning against you, even the church,” he said.
Despite the challenges, Gachagua said he had advised his children to remain strong and accept the consequences of his political stance.
“I have told my children, ‘a leopard’s cub remains a leopard.’ Your father has chosen to fight for this country, and if you must suffer because of that, accept it. Your father has taken a stand, and you must endure,” he added.
The remarks come amid ongoing political tensions between Gachagua and Ruto, as the former deputy president continues to voice his frustrations over his sidelining in government affairs.
