Former President Mwai Kibaki is currently undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital where he was admitted after complaining of abdominal pains.
Reports hint that Mzee Kibaki was rushed to the hospital on June 19 after he could not stomach any more of the pains.
He has spent about 10 days in the hospital’s VIP wing as medics work around the clock to salvage him out of the condition believed to be the aftermath of an infection.
“Samples were taken for testing in the lab. The results are out and nothing to worry about. His team of doctors is managing the pain,” The Star reported.
The former president’s handlers have however stated he is in hospital for a routine medical check-up.
“It is a normal visit and there is nothing new. He goes there more often for scheduled check-ups be it once in a month or even twice. So no (cause for) alarm,” one of the aides is quoted.
Kibaki since his exit from office has managed to keep off the public eye. He made a public appearance -after a long while in February this year when he visited parliament to pay his respects to the late Mzee Daniel Moi.
