Emmy Kosgei’s brother Meshack Kipkoech jailed for five years

Popular Kalenjin singer Emmy Kosgei’s brother Meshack Kipkoech Kosgei has been jailed.

According to news sources, the singer’s brother was charged with causing the death of a 6-year-old bpy through dangerous driving.

As a result Meshack was sentenced to five years in jail.

It was also noted tha the caused two accidents on the very day in a span of ten minutes.

The charge sheet stated that at around 11:40 am on December 25, 2017, in Rongai along the Nakuru-Mogotio Road, Meshack drove recklessly and hit Biron Kinda while he was crossing the road.

Ten minutes later, he also hit Richard Komen, a motorcyclist, who sustained injuries on his right leg.

The six-year-old, passed on four days after the accident.

Biron’s elder sister Elser Atieno said that they had gone to pick a pair of shoes their mother had bought.

While sentencing the accused, Eldama Ravine Senior Principal Magistrate John Tamar noted that Kipkoech had previously caused death by dangerous driving.

“Consequently and noting that the accused had previous records of causing death by dangerous driving, I sentence the accused to five years imprisonment,” stated the magistrate in his judgement.

“In addition and pursuant to Section 76(1) (a) of the Traffic Act part VIII, I cancel his driving licence and declare him disqualified from obtaining another one for a period of 10 years,” stated the court.
