Jubilee party new chief whip in parliament Emannuel Wangwe has sought to kick Gatundu South Moses Kuria out of the Transport, Public Works and Housing Committee in which he served since his re-election in 2017.
Through a notice dated June 3, Kuria has been asked to within 7 days table his objection of the removal or else the party goes ahead to find his replacement.
“Pursuant to standing orders 176 (1) and 176 (2) you are hereby notified that the Jubilee Party which nominated you intends to discharge you from the Transport, Public Works, and Housing Committee. You are hereby given seven days to respond before you are discharged from the said committee,” the notice signed by Hon. Wangwe partly reads.
Hon. Wangwe who is also the MP for Navakholo replaced Benjamin Washiali in the post of the majority whip in changes effected after the convention of JP PG meeting which also had the Deputy President William Ruto attending.
Hon. Kuria nonetheless had anticipated the changes saying he would just be good with anything effected even if not in favor with him and(or) his colleagues, after all terming the changes as a betrayal.
“The common factor between Judas Iscariot and Brutus was that both went for the kill with a grin. Today we had enough smiles. Tonight is the night of long knives. The victims have accepted with grace. I am very proud of my outgoing team. We have done this country great. I am heartened by the valor, fortitude, and humility with which the axed leaders have taken this betrayal,” Kuria said.
Garissa Township MP Aden Duale happened to be the only legislator to cheat the axe after hearsay initially having it that he would also be purged in the intended changes.
Jubilee has been effecting changes both in the senate and the National Assembly. The changes are thought to be aiming at punishing those dissenting from the party leader (President Uhuru Kenyatta) who has been in a fall out with his deputy William Ruto.
The rift between the two party principals has seen legislators taking sides, the DP having his share of members who have been showing the determination of standing with him in the midst of his tribulations in the party.
On their side, President Kenyatta’s cohorts have been faulting their counterparts for disrespect and rebellion and violation of the party principals and policies, thus the team vouching for the changes put forward by the party under the stewardship of President Kenyatta.
