Egypt’s Former Strongman Dies Aged 91

Former Egypt president Hosni Mubarak is dead.

The demise of the late leader has been announced by a national broadcaster in the country and confirmed by his son.

Since his unceremonious ouster, Mubarak’s health has been deteriorating many a time being admitted to hospital.

He died on Tuesday while undergoing treatment in an ICU.

His rule came to a sudden halt after rebellions rose in 2011, Egyptians joining their counterparts in the North-Africa Arab world who stood to decry the dictatorship highly manifested by their presidents.

Tunisia citizens rose against Ben Ali, Libya rising against Muammar Gaddafi as Egyptians were determined to oust Hosni Mubarak.

After his removal, Mubarak was subjected to lots of prosecutions leading to his detention until 2017 when he was freed.

After his exit, Mubarak was succeeded by the late Mohammed Morsi in 2013 whose presidency was short-lived only to be ousted later as well.
