Deputy President William Ruto on Thursday led a chicken auction that was held in Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County.
“DP William Ruto starts with a cabinet meeting in Nairobi chaired by President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Kenya.
After Cabinet, he will then join the #HustlerNation at #KambiYaKuku for the 2nd Annual Chicken Auction at the very spot he used to sell chicken.” Denis Itumbi had outlined.
The Deputy President said the aim of the auction was to help improve small business enterprises and thus reducing levels of poverty.
Small businesses hold signififcant social and economic impact to our country; they fuel local economy, spark creativity, allow people to achieve financial liberty, offer diversity in our economy, are jobs generation powerhouses, and contribute to poverty reduction.DP William Ruto
The event was held at Kambi Ya Kuku, Jua Kali, in Eldoret and was the second one after the first took place in 2018. In this one, a total of Ksh. 11 million was raised, opposed to the 2018’s when Ksh. 6 Million was raised.
The DP is believed to have moved against the odds to be the second top man in the country. He always shared how he hawked chicken to meet his needs and facilitate his education before he would rise to the ranks.
Ruto parted with Ksh. 1 million to buy chicken during the Kambi Kuku chicken auction, 2nd edition.
