Chinese National Caught Assaulting Kenyan To Be Deported

Four Chinese nationals who were arrested by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) are set to be deported following a signed order by Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i.

The order was signed by Matiang’i on Wednesday hours after a court allowed police to detain the four Chinese nationals for 15 days pending investigations into the incident.

The Chinese nationals; Ou Qiang, Deng Hailan, Chang Yueping, and Yu-Ling; were arrested on Sunday after a video went viral of one of them assaulting a Kenyan Waiter in their restaurant.

It showed a Chinese man beating a Kenyan who works at Chez Wou Restaurant in Nairobi’s Kileleshwa Estate. It was reported that the Kenyan, Simon Oseko, was being assaulted for reporting late to work. He receives two strokes from the manager as his colleagues watched from a distance.

Oseko reported the incident at Kileleshwa Police station and obtained a P3 form. It was also reported that the Chinese chef instilled fear into other Kenyan workers so that they would not talk about their ordeals in the restaurant.

They were arrested for reportedly holding expired visas and Yu Ling holding a visitor’s visa without a work permit.
