The remains of the Late Matungu MP Justus Murunga has been transferred to Nairobi for preservation as his family embarks on the preparations for his send-off.
The body was moved on Sunday morning hours into the MP’s death which has been linked to Covid-19 and Diabetes. The body will lie at the Lee Funeral Home before it is transported back to Kakamega for burial.
Hon. Murunga passed on while undergoing medication at the St. Mary’s Mission Hospital in Mumias on the night of Saturday, November 14 after reportedly collapsing at his home.
The fallen MP was battling both Covid-19 and Diabetes and had been admitted to the Aga Khan Hospital in Kisumu from where he was discharged on Friday, November 13 for homecare attention.
His condition is said to have deteriorated while at home occasioning his admission to the St.Mary’s Hospital from where he died aged 60 years.
National luminaries led by President Kenyatta have mourned the late first timer in parliament, terming him a dedicated servant during his term as the Matungu MP.
“In this hour of sorrow, I convey my deepest sympathies and heartfelt condolences to Hon Murunga’s family, relatives, and the people of Matungu Constituency. My thoughts and prayers are with you,” President Kenyatta.
“My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Hon. Justus Murunga. My thoughts are with the people of Matungu for losing their leader at the tail end of his first term. May his Soul Rest In Eternal Peace,” ODM leader Raila Odinga.
