Betty Kyallo has had her run at Mediamax coming to its end after close to two years of service.
The animated TV siren joined the station at DSM Place in 2018 coming from KTN where she built her name.
After presenting the Weekend With Betty on the night of Saturday, May 30, Betty signed out hinting her exit, thanking her fans for the support they accorded at the time she was with K24.
“I really appreciate you all. It is now time for me to say goodbye here on K24 TV. Thank you so much for all the support, I appreciate you, God bless you and I love you,” she said.
It is not clear whether or not she is part of the team that the media house had set aside for redundancy owing to tough economic time the station has been through and which was worsened by the Covid-19 pandemic.
In mid-May, K24 announced plans to lay off some of its staff to cut on costs after the station felt the implications brought about by the prevalent corona pandemic.
In a letter issued by the company’s MD Mr.Ken Ngaruiya, among the initiatives to upsurge the station and see it afloat in the midst of the pandemic include laying off of staff as well as scraping some positions thought to be inessential.
Anne Kiguta is also among those in line to leave Mediamax which is based along Kijabe Street.
Betty joins Asha Mwilu of Citizen TV who resigned to focus on a personal venture.
Betty holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from Daystar University.
At KTN she pioneered the Friday Briefing, a segment that brought celebrities on set to discuss their lives, struggles, and their points of breakthrough among others.
At K24 she came up with Upclose akin to Friday Briefing but this had her move out to meet the public figures.
