Ban of Kifaru, and Dola Maize Flour Brands Lifted By KEBS

Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS) has lifted the ban for Dola and Kifaru maize flour brands which were suspended over high levels of aflatoxin.

The standard regulation body released a statement on their Twitter account on Wednesday stating that Kitui Four Mills (Dola) and Alpha Grain Limited (Kifaru) have met the approved quality standards.

This decision to reinstate the suspended Standardization Mark permits will enable the manufacturers to resume production. Let me commend these manufacturers for their cooperation.

KEBS has also lifted the ban of Nuteez and Zesta Peanut Butter brands which were suspended over high aflatoxin levels. These were among the five brands that also saw True nuts (Truenutz Kenya), Fressy (Fressy Food Company), Supa meal (Supacosm Products Limited), Sue’s Naturals (Way Health), and Nutty (Nature Target Distributors) being banned.

Kenyans did not take the news lightly as some noted that the ban did not bring about any changes citing it as a publicity stunt.
