Armed Gang Steals 20M And Jewelery From Kibaki’s Muthaiga Neighbour In Under 30 Minutes

A daring gang over the weekend on Sunday June 6th 2021, wrecked havoc in former President Mwai Kibaki’s Muthaiga residence stealing Sh20 million cash in a robbery that lasted only 30 minutes.

This is after the thugs broke into the residence of Harish Patel, a businessman who runs the Kenya Horticultural Export Ltd family business along Tchui road and made away with the cash and valuables.

Confirming the incident, Starehe Sub-County Police Commander Julius Kiragu noted that the robbers held the businessman Harish Patel at gun point during the daring operation.

Detectives are currently on it with thorough investigations as they suspect an inside job in conspiracy with some of the businessman’s aids. Reports from the police indicate that three armed men gained access to the building after cutting the electric fence.

“They first cut the electric fence before they scaled the perimeter wall,” police said.

They then scaled up the fence jumped over, with one of the security guards and three other workers who were on duty tied up and locked up in one of the security rooms.

The gang then moved straight to the businessman’s family in the house holding them hostage at gunpoint, and successfully making away with the cash and the jewelry.

Police suspects that the gang had prior knowledge of the businessman’s whereabouts, cash and gold he possessed in his house as well as a blueprint of his mansion.

“The robbers directed the house help to take them to the room where the family was. The house girl took the keys to the main house and opened the door for them.

“So far we have not arrested anyone, we have, however, interrogated all the employees. We have also taken their mobile phone numbers for analysis to establish if they were in communication with the suspects,” Starehe sub-county police commander Julius Kiragu explained.
