Reports are in that a pistol and some rounds of ammunition have been unearthed at the customer’s luggage bay of Naivas Supermarket, Thika branch.
An insider who sought anonymity said the weapon was found inside a bag alongside a laptop and pieces of newspaper. The bag was left at the bay for more than a week without anyone claiming ownership.
“We have been advised to keep the information so that we can maintain our customers,” The insider.
It took the curiosity of the attendant at the bay to inform the outlet’s management about the mysterious bag, who later invited the police to aid in finding out what the bag had housed for the week.
Police are currently in custody of the items as they kick off the investigations. The recovered pistol is said to have been stolen from a licensed holder who had also reported his loss to the police.
Thika Sub-County police commander Beatrice Kiraguri has urged the chain to invest in security so as to be in a good position to face such security threats and challenges.
