Kilifi Governor Amason Jeffa Kingi has issued an official release distancing himself from his deputy Gideon Saburi who refused to observe self-isolation after landing in the country from Germany.
Mr. Saburi defied the guideline going ahead intermingling with unsuspecting constituents of his county.
The deputy governor was after all forcefully put under isolation after the social media went into a frenzy demanding that he is traced and quarantined.
During his presser on Sunday, the Health CS Mutahi Kagwe was categorical that the deputy governor upon the completion of the 14-day-long isolation will be arraigned in court to face charges.
Governor Kingi has now come out condemning the act by his deputy offering to cooperate with the law enforcement agencies to see that the necessary disciplinary actions are taken.
“Following the confirmation of one case of coronavirus in Kilifi County, my government is scaling up efforts to ensure safety of our people from the spread of the virus. In this regard we promise cooperation,” read a part of the governor’s statement.
The governor also informed that his (Kingi’s) tests for the virus had been confirmed negative and he will anyway observe the guidelines and precautionary measures put.
He also said that the staff in his government have since been ordered to work from home.
