Kenyans online have reacted to the discrepancies witnessed on the newly unveiled Huduma cards. President Uhuru Kenyatta and First Lady Margaret Kenyatta were among the first batch of Kenyans to receive the controversial cards after a long wait.
Kenyans online have since criticized the Interior CS for leaving out embattled Deputy President William Ruto in the list of the first group of Kenyans that received the sample of the cards. The issuance of the other batch of huduma cards will soon commence after the National Assembly finalizes the appointment of the Data Commissioner as directed by the courts.
Netizens however noticed the difference between the picture that appeared on the card and those that were taken during the huduma number registration. President Uhuru’s card bore a picture of him in a tie and a coat, which is totally different from what he wore when his photo was taken at the time of registration.
Margaret Kenyatta’s card also had a photo in clothes she did not wear during the registration. This has drawn alot of criticism online with Kenyans faulting Interior CS Fred Matiangi and the Attorney General for the inconsistencies. The Huduma Number registration process was clouded with alot of suspicion among Kenyans and the political class.
Many people had varying views about its essence. The government was incessant that the card would smoothen its delivery of services to the citizenry.
