At least 70 people have been killed and many injured in a car bomb attack in the capital of Somalia, Mogadishu on Saturday.
Police officers have confirmed that the blast targetted a tax collection centre during the morning rush hour. Up to 100 people, including children, were rushed to hospitals.
A large cloud of smoke rose above Mogadishu marking one of the deadliest attacks in the capital in recent history. The deadliest attack in the country’s history was a truck bombing in October 2017 in Mogadishu which left 512 people dead and around 295 injured.
The death toll number is expected to rise, according to local authorities who have been monitoring the situation.

No group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.
